Patrick: There were rumours that the head of the police force, the Chief of Police, was thinking about retiring. Janine made sure to stay in tip-top shape so that the chief was consider choosing her as his replacement. I had my own reasons for staying in shape- the police chief wasn't the only boss thinking about stepping down.

Patrick: Janine had just about cinched the job when we discovered she was pregnant. With the promise that she would be named chief upon her return, Janine went on maternity leave.

Patrick: With Janine home all of the time, it was getting harder and harder to hide my job from her.

Patrick: I can't say she wasn't getting a little suspicious. It didn't help that the Andersons and the Edwards both had their houses broken into last week. Janine even learned how to use a fingerprinting gun so that if our house was broken into she could track down the theif.

Patrick: Luckily a distraction soon arrived in the form of Dylan Johnson. Janine had to devote most of her time to caring for our new son.

Patrick: For now, at least, I could rest assured.
